Drumroll, please ... Daisy is Pregnant!

We are excited to announce that after three trips to the vet, a few failed attempts to retract sperm from Simon, and the cornification cycle for Daisy, ensuring she is ready before inseminating her, Daisy is pregnant! Daisy is expecting her puppies between March 14 and 16. Most dogs usually can whelp  (birth their puppies) on their own without difficulties, but it is important to keep a close eye on them to be safe. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels tend to whelp on day 61. Daisy had a checkup on February 2nd for progesterone tests and an overall well check; an ultrasound on February 26, followed by her puppy count radiograph, will take place on March 7th. Based on the results of these appointments, Daisy's C-section will be scheduled on either March 14, 15, or 16th.

To make sure we are fully prepared, we created a plan to schedule a C-section in hopes of reducing the number of puppies that can be lost during natural whelping. Thanks to Mother Nature, we have heard that it is common for a mother to go into labor the day before the scheduled surgery. If necessary, we plan to have all the equipment needed to whelp the litter at home.
While Daisy is pregnant,  it is essential to keep her from harsh movements like jumping. To avoid this, Daisy has been using stairs when getting on and off the sofa; it must be rough 😉. We are watching her closely; as she is experiencing fatigue but maintaining a full appetite. 💗
We are so thankful to have been able to successfully inseminate Daisy, allowing her and Simon to be parents. 😍 Stay tuned for puppy pictures!
